The paper select the articles contained in the core periodicals of Chinese Library Science as the research object.After screening the collected documents,investigate the application of research methods in sample papers.The longitudinal comparative study is based on the articles published in the Journal of Library Science in China from 2001 to 2015.The horizontal comparative study is based on the articles from 12 core periodicals of Library Science in 2016.Then analyze the current situation and trend of the application of research methods in Library Science,and on this basis,systematically discuss the application literacy of research methods in Library Science.The paper consists of five parts:The first part discusses the background and significance of the study,summarizes the relevant research results at home and abroad,introduces the research contents,research methods and innovations of the research.The second part defines the related concepts of application literacy of research methods in Library Science.And discusses the scope and reasons of selection of samples,introduces the types of research methods of Library Science and specific research methods,and briefly describes the extraction process of research methods.The third part analyses the application situation and development trend of the research methods of Library Science.Through the investigation and comparison,draw some conclusions:the proportion of application of the theoretical analysis method is the largest,but showed a downward trend;the conventional research methods is dominant;the application of emerging research methods showed a growth trend;the proportion of quantitative research is increasing,but qualitative research methods still occupy a large proportion;the level of collaborative application of research methods continues to grow.Different core journals of Library Science have different and common features in the application of research methods: overall,qualitative research methods account for a large proportion;journals with the highest proportion of quantitative research methods are Journal of Library Science in China,and journals with high impact factors have a relatively large proportion of quantitative research methods;Documentation,Information and Knowledge is a periodical with the highest level of collaborative application of research methods,and journals with higher impact factors,the level of collaboration application of research methods is relatively high.It has verified the reliability of the Journal of Library Science in China as an investigation of the historical evolution and application situation of research methods of Library Science in China.Based on the above research,the fourth part systematically explores the application literacy of research methods in Library Science.First of all,summarize the application characteristics of research methods in Library Science:diversification,comprehensiveness,interdisciplinary,and innovation.Secondly,the problem of lack of rigor of research methods in Library Science,the presentation of research methods is not clear,the low degree of structural optimization of research methods and low level of cooperative application are discussed.At last,the measures for improving literacy are proposed:clarify the requirements of the presentation of research methods;standardizing the methodology of Library Science;strengthen the education of research methods in Library Science;individuals should establish a scientific awareness of research methods,master the knowledge of research methods and enhance the application ability of research methods;reasonable grasp the application trend of research methods in Library Science.The fifth part summarizes the research work of this article,points out the shortcomings of the research,and prospects the further research in the future.
