With the coming of Big Data Era,scientific research is affected by the exponential growth of massive and disordered data set which is difficult for us to deal with.Besides,data-intensive paradigm of scientific research makes data literacy one of the basic literacies of enhancing scientific research capacity and driving technological innovation and the core competence of scientific researchers.However,the awareness of data and data literacy competency is weak in China,related researches on this topic just get started and most of them are about discussion of the conception.There is no practice of data literacy education.By study of the status quo of related researches both at home and abroad,this article tries to build a framework of data literacy competency including data awareness,data knowledge,data capacity and data ethics,and every indicator is equipped with some small targets.A questionnaire on the status quo of postgraduates' data literacy in Wuhan University is composed according to this framework.The result shows that the whole data awareness and data sensitivity of the postgraduates in Wuhan University is weak,their basic knowledge of data is not solid and they often find it difficult to acquire,process,evaluate,communicate and use data.Some students even have not figure out the data reference rules,thus the phenomenon of refer others' data at random is ubiquitous.Besides,students' data literacy competency differs from discipline to discipline.For these problems,this article tries to figure out five suggestions,including creating favorable atmosphere for the cultivation of data literacy;promoting the development of systematic and multi-leveled data literacy education and improving the curriculum system;promoting the popularization of data reference standard rules and attaching importance to the cultivation of data ethics;integrating various data resources and implementing unified management and use of data resources to maximize the utility of data resources;taking efforts to develop a high level of personnel for data literacy education,in order to enrich the talent pool of the practice.
