In the process of military electronic modernization,both microwave and millimeterwave power modules(MPM and MMPM)can be seen in radar,communications and electronic countermeasures.Their broad application prospects make them the current research hot spot.However,due to the unsatisfactory development of the TWT used in the power module,the gain characteristic curve fluctuates greatly,it is necessary to add equalization between the front stage solid state drive amplification module and the rear stage TWT amplifier.The network corrects the gain of the TWT amplifier,so the research and design of the gain equalizer has become a key technology in the microwave and millimeter wave power module design.Equalization amount,equalization accuracy,power capacity,and input/output VSWR are important indicators in the design of gain equalizers.At the same time,taking into account these indicators is the difficulty.In order to solve the problem that the gain characteristic curve of the TWT amplifier in the microwave and millimeter wave power modules is not flat,this paper chooses the rectangular waveguide form to design and develops a new type of 3mm gain equalizer.The structure of the gain equalizer is relatively simple,the structure contains fewer important parameters,easy to computer software simulation optimization,is conducive to the realization of the rapid design of the gain equalizer.Compared with the conventional structure,the use of the resonant cavity is reduced,the volume can be made smaller,and the miniaturization can be facilitated.Through simulation analysis,the gain equalizer has the characteristics of high Q value,large power capacity,and small insertion loss.By analyzing the laboratory test data,the absorption characteristics of the metamaterial structure of the gain equalizer are obtained.This structure can achieve perfect absorption of electromagnetic waves at the resonant frequency.The feasibility of applying this structure to the design of a gain equalizer is verified.This paper also improves the traditional form of the gain equalizer based on the rectangular cavity resonator.The gain equalizer couples the electromagnetic wave that needs to be selected in the waveguide to the rectangular cavity through hole coupling,and then the rectangular cavity through the microstrip probe.The electromagnetic energy is coupled to the thin film resistors for absorption.Its structural design is simple.Compared with the wave absorbing material used in the traditional structure,the thin film resistance can more easily achieve the precise control of the equalization amount and the equalization accuracy.From the experimental results,the gain equalizer has a high Q value,a small insertion loss,and a relatively good control of the VSWR.The gain equalizer designed through this structure can well meet the project requirements.Finally,according to the requirements of the project,this paper designs the overall design of the RF circuit and the DC power supply circuit of the equalizer and the solidstate driving amplifier front-end,realizes the equalization and amplification module,and completes the laboratory test and result analysis.
