The frequency band of Ka plays a significant role in the frequency spectrum of electromagnetic wave, which has been widely used in the field of radar, communication, remote sensing and biomedicine. Power module in the frequency band of Ka that is the principal part for the requirement of high-power combines the advantage of the solid state circuit and the vacuum electron device. The solid state circuit has the advantage of high-gain and Low noise while the vacuum electron device has the one of high-power and high efficiency. Solid state drive amplifier module(SSA) is an important component of power module, which provides specific gain and adjusts the gain flatness in the whole frequency range. Gain Equalizer is the key part of SSA, which is mainly used to solve the uneven gain problem of SSA.On the basis of the summary of the classification, comprehensive method and realization form of gain equalizer, we propose two novel ones that are based on spurline and waveguide loading metamaterial absorber. After analyzing the theory of spurline resonator and obtaining the rule of notch units affected by the structure, we design a novel gain equalizer by embedding the spurline in the traditional uniform impedance branch. Test results indicate that the voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) is less than 2 and the equilibrium quantity is more than 15 dB. Similarly we present the process of extracting the constitutive parameter ε and μ by the S parameter transmission method. Take advantage of the absorption characteristics of the metamaterial absorber, we propose the waveguide loading metamaterial absorber gain equalizer and put the metamaterial absorber in use in the microwave circuit rather than free space for the first time, which doesn’t contain the resistance and wave-absorbing material to absorb energy. Finally we manufacture two SSA working in the frequency band of Ka, which are 26.5GHz-40 GHz and 30GHz-40 GHz. the former require high gain,for which we use three amplifier chip, meanwhile we use 2W power amplifier and high-power regulation chip for the latter requiring high power. The final test result meets the requirements of the indicators.
