Microwave power module(MPM) included integrated power conditioner(IPC),solid-state amplifier driver(SSA) and traveling wave tube(TWT). Now, MPM is widelyapplied to a variety of military equipment and electronic warfare systems. SSA is usedto drive the TWT and equalize the gain so that the distortion of signal amplitude will notoccurs, and SSA also provides the best input power for TWT at each frequency point. The gain equalizer as a passive component in SSA is the key to excellent performanceof traveling wave tube.In this paper, we analyzed the theory of gain equalizer from different aspects, especially used the theory of non-reflective filter to the gain equalizer and proposed anew structure to design a equalizer in frequency6-18GHz. Then, based on thetraditional theory, several gain equalizers were designed, frequency covered2-6GHz,8-18GHz; and the measured results are basically consistent with the simulation results, the performance of equalizers also meet the requirements. In this paper, a new type gainequalizer based on the theory of coplanar waveguide in frequency6-18GHz wasproposed, it is easy to adjust, and the insertion loss is small in high frequency, so theequalizer has a certain practicality. In this paper, two solid-state amplifiers with different MMIC in frequency2-6GHzwere designed. According to the output power of first solid-state amplifier and the inputpower requirements of traveling wave tube, we designed a gain equalizer ofcorresponding performance and tested with the solid-state amplifier together. Themeasured results show that the solid-state amplifiers can keep working for long hourswhen input power range from-5dBm to0dBm and the temperature range from-55℃to85℃; solid-state amplifier also has stable performance, small gain fluctuations, saturated output power with1W. Finally, the solid-state amplifier and the gain equalizerassembled in microwave power module.
