Wireless network technology are often plagued by the limitation of network resources and energy, and ZigBee network technology take an important place and more and more attention because of its characteristic such as low power consumption, low cost in the wireless sensor network. But as a result of ZigBee nodes of smaller size in network, and network need batteries to power supply of network nodes, so the entire network life will be kept by battery power of the node, if people are not able to replace timely battery of low power node in network because of bad environment and other factors, so the information transmission of whole network will be affected in paralysis. Especially in today’s diversified information, to solve the energy problems of ZigBee network technology is increasingly concerned by people. So this article will propose improvement program base on the ZigBee routing protocols.Firstly this article analyzes the history and development status of ZigBee network technology and the network structure of the ZigBee protocol. Secondly basic ideas and operation principle of ZigBee routing protocols were studied and discussed, and it complete ZigBee routing protocol simulation experiment by setting up model in the NS-2network simulation software. For the low efficiency of searching path node increase the network energy consumption problems in setting up route node of ZigBee, it propose a shortcut route as the main improved method at the same time, control the RREQ forward direction and destination node select the RREQ control group base on the basic research of the principle of ZigBee routing protocol. This method makes full use of the possibility of the neighbor table and control group, reduce the network energy consumption and prolong network survival life expected effect.
