Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is a short-range wireless network,which consists of densely deployed large number of sensor nodes with different specifications and functions. All sensor nodes have the abilities of apperceiving,computing and communicating,which form a network through ad-hoc mode.Its purpose is cooperating and sensing,collecting and processing of perceived target information in the region of network coverage,and then sends it to observers.WSN can be used to monitor the environment,the machines and even the people.WSN has wide application fields,so it has been paid high attention by the military circles,the academes,and the industries from all over the world.Meanwhile,this provides many challenges in the academe foundations and technologies.IEEE802.15.4 is a new promoting wireless protocol,which defines the standard for wireless low-rate personal area network.It provides the definition for physical layer(PHY) and medium access layer(MAC).In this paper,first makes a detail study on the ZigBee protocol.ZigBee technology is a low data rate,low power consumption and low cost wireless network protocol,target towards automation and remote control applications.The IEEE802.15.4-2003 standard defines the lower two layers:the physical(PHY) layer and the medium access control (MAC) layer.The ZigBee Alliance provides the network(NWK) layer and application layer on this foundation.In the short-distance and low-rate wireless communication, Bluetooth and wireless LAN have incomparable advantages compared with ZigBee. ZigBee technology has a broad market in the domestic system control,building automation and industrial monitoring field.Based on the related information of the wireless sensor network and the development overview of ZigBee technology,the protocol framework and network topology,a ZigBee wireless sensor network platform based on the theories is designed.Proposes an intelligent control platform for wireless sensor network based on ZigBee protocol,introduces an integrated architecture including hardware architecture,software architecture and network communication interface design.An experimental WSN is deployed and the experimental data is collected and analyzed.Hardware includes hardware connect between microprocessor ATmega128 and wireless transceiver chip CC2420 and associated peripheral circuit design,software part of the network including the program design of network establishing,communicating,routing and ZigBee protocol programming and debugging.We use the ZigBee protocol as the wireless network protocol of the sensor network making a simple network constructing and communication testing.The experiments show that the proposed solution achieves the design requirements with satisfying flexibility and expansibility.Consequently,it acts as a platform of wireless monitor system and supplies a new hardware design approach for wireless sensor networks.
