Zigbee technology has wide application prospect in wireless sensor network. The reseach in routing protocol of Zigbee is one of the hot topic, and the energy consumption is the pivotal problem of Zigbee protocol. Currently, the size of network covering is gradually becoming big and big. Moreover, because of the constraint performance of Zigbee routing protocol itself, the network control overhead is large, and causing poor effectiveness, large delay and big congestion. This paper focuses on minimizing the cost of routing as far as possible and improving the efficiency of Zigbee node, which in allusion to the large-scale Zigbee network.Here we propose a kind of hybrid energy balanced Zigbee network protocol based on Clustering ZBRC (ZBR base on Clustering). Which combine with the clustering method and use the idea of ZBR routing combination protocol by the analysis of traditional Zigbee network routing protocol.Logic clustering is a kind of basic method to solve the communication problems in traditional large sensor networks. At present, there is still large network overhead and short network life cycle in the logical clustering way for Zigbee network application.For large-scale Zigbee networks, ZBRC routing protocols which based on the logical clustering, are divided into in-clusters and out-cluster communication. And at the same time the routing mechanism is divided into in-clusters routing and out-cluster routing. And then, the ZBRC borrows ideas from advantages of Tree-routing and AODVjr routing algorithm. On one hand, we use the way, which is similar to Tree-routing, to send message when nodes of the cluster to share routing information. On the other hand, we look for intermediate nodes that have the shortest distance from source nodes for accomplishing the establishment of the routing between clusters. In addition, in order to balance the energy consumption of the cluster head node and increase the lifetime of network, the paper proposes a new strategy about cluster head rotation and another further strategy about avoiding center PAN coordinator. And when links failure, we can use path repair mechanisms inside or outside the cluster to complete routing maintenance. In the end, we also take the maintenance mechanism into consideration, and the relevant issues are discussed.Finally, we design a corresponding experimental platform to analyze performances between ZBRC and some traditional routing protocols. And the results show that ZBRC can be able to decrease the routing path effectively and reduce the energy consumption of network nodes greatly, which are far superior to the Tree-routing protocol and ZBR. Furthermore, it has great progress for easing delay phenomenon and reducing packet loss rate in the transmission process of the control message.
