With the ever prevailing application of digital media and increasing volume of transfer files, the transmission speed of existing equipment connectors can not meet the needs of the people, so we need to develop the Internet interface urgently, satisfies the higher demand of the data transmission speed of the market, and try to shorten the user waiting time, try to accomplish the transition of the data file as soon as possible,high speed and synchronized real time transmission has become an imperative feature of digital industry launched nowadays. So Intel,HP, NEC, NXP semiconductors and Texas Instruments are together to develop the USB3.0protocol, and began developing USB3.0product which application field including personal PC, consumer electronics and mobile devices, and other high-speed synchronous instant transmission.USB3.0compatible with USB2.0, USB1.0standards, and have traditional USB technology plug and play function. The goal of the technology is to develop the products which transmission speed faster than USB2.010times, and optimize the power management which may realize the lower power consumption and higher transmission efficiency. In addition, USB3.0also support the optical transmission. Thesis mainly divided into three parts which is the research and design of the clock generator, parallel to serial converter and driver circuit. According to USB3.0protocol, the clock generator need to generate the high frequency clock of5GHZ, in this paper, the design of clock generator do a research and design of PFD, CP, LPF, VCO, Divider respectively which is based on the principle of phase lock loop, and then give their simulation results and the clock generator’s overall simulation results. About the parallel to serial converter, first we analyze the advantages and disadvantages of three P2S(parallel to serial) circuit structures, and then design a circuit structure to achieve the high speed P2S by combining the tree structure and parallel structure. At last, after the analysis and design the driver circuit, we give the test results of the chip.TSMC65nm CMOS process is used to implement the design. The test results show that, the design of the transmitter satisfies the protocol of USB3.0, we realize the design aims.
