Computer science is the unity of knowledge, operation and practicability which features fast speed, high practicability and wide application. Due to the swift development of this field and the differences between the students' levels, the traditional education patterns can not meet the demands of the students. The teachers now are facing, therefore, the huge task of seeking new ways to cultivate the students' ability to practice, analyze and resolve problems through efficient teaching of the computer science based on the students' features.This study adopts the approach of Task-driving Teaching Method to carry out the four phrases of Task Generation, Task Analysis, Task Resolution and Task Evaluation throughout the education process to create a model which is concentrated on task, is conducted by the teacher and is operated mainly by the students. The structure graph derives from two different teaching patterns, namely Open Pattern and Close Pattern, for the teaching of Word Module in the course of Computer Basis.In the Close Pattern teaching, the students in the task-driving class have satisfactorily mastered the knowledge points, and in the Open Pattern teaching, the students in the task-driving class have created E-newspapers with rich contents and fresh themes, and most teams could cooperate to set the clear duty, allocate assignments, and design the E-newspapers according to evaluation elements, which has successfully improved the students' ability to resolve the real problems by employing Word. The students' ability to acquire, process and apply information is improved through material collection. The efficiency of Task-driving Teaching Method to improve substantially the students' computer operation capacity has been proven by analysis of data and tests of the students' ability to use computers by paperless teaching software.It has been proven by teaching practices that Task-driving Teaching Method complies with the computer system's nature of level and practicality and facilitates the acquirement of operation knowledge and skill. The application of this approach can benefit the short-term skill training and improve the students' ability to practice, analyze and resolve problems. This paper studies the effect of Task-driving Teaching Method in improving the students' ability to operate computer. The paper consists of the following six chapters:Chapter 1: A brief introduction to the background, significance, status quo, reflectionand approaches of the research.Chapter 2: Illustration of the basic features, teaching process, advantage and the application of Task-driving Teaching Method and the application and the fundamental theories of the school of Construction .Chapter 3: Introduction to the features of Open Pattern and Close Pattern and the seven principles for the task design and the Analysis of different task designing with the help of teaching practices in Word Module in the course of Computer Basis.Chapter 4: Summarization of the task-driving teaching process with the illustration of Close pattern task design and Open pattern task design applied in the teaching practices.Chapter 5: Evaluation standards establishment for the two different task types, evaluation of the students' work, evaluation of the efficiency ofTask-driving Teaching Method to improve substantially the students' computer operation capacity by analysis of data and tests of the students' ability to use computers by paperless teaching software.Chapter 6: Summarization of the achievements and the remaining problems of the study.
