This dissertation focuses on the architecture design and implementation of T2181 Digital Signal Processor. This dissertation gives the detailed analysis of modern DSP processors. On the basis of previous research done on the microprocessor, it proposes the DSP-oriented architecture, which improves the execution efficiency of DSP applications. Furthermore, the dissertation put forward the high-performance pipeline by analyzing and comparing several pipeline schemes.The multiplier of MAC(Multiplier/Accumulator) is critical for system performance. This dissertation refers to several typical examples of existing multipliers and accomplishes a specific multiplier, which can meet the performance requirement of T2181 processor. The designs of flexible power management, powerful serial ports and memory architecture are also included in this dissertation.Beside the system architecture design, this dissertation describes the synthesis and implementation of T2181 Digital Signal Processor. It focuses on improving the system performance by adding appropriate constraints to the design. The result of experiments can illustrate how the constraints affect the system performance.We use VHDL language to describe the whole system and it is fully simulated and properly implemented on FPGA.The research results of the dissertation will be contributive to the development process of the DSP processor of our own nation and have profound future in many application fields.
