Tower cranes are the construction equipment essential to all kinds of high-rise buildings and large-scale construction projects. It is also a equipment with high risk potencial and accident possibility. In recent years, the state safety monitoring for tower crane has to be an important means and research focus. However, at present, the monitoring system developed by companies or research institutions is mainly based on channel-type, and its capacity of monitoring parameters is limited. Meanwhile, all kinds of tower crane monitoring system are more diversification, which is not conducive to the interoperability between different systems and modules, while not conducive to the user's extension and customization.Due to the above problems, this article design and propose a standardization, modular, bus-based intelligent monitoring system for the tower crane, which monitoring parameters can be flexible extension, monitoring node can be automatically identified, and has good versatility and compatibility. The monitoring system is mainly composed of three parts: information collection node, the main controller, remote monitoring center. Information collection node is a kind of intelligent collection node based on BUS architecture. It internally integrates the Transducer Electronic Data Sheet forms (TEDS) information in line with IEEE1451 standard, allowing each node to be automatically identified by the master system. It also has a good extension and can be plug-and-play. The main controller can access through the CAN bus to identify and to deal with state information collected by the smart sensor nodes. It can make on-site real-time response and early warning, and at the same time monitoring data can be sent via GPRS network to the remote monitoring center to achieve the goal that the authorized officer can monitor the tower crane's conditions at anytime, anywhere, which is beneficial to monitor the performance of crane trends and to prevent accidents.Finally, based on the analysis and design of the tower crane's intelligent monitoring system, the article proposes a systemic standard of tower crane's monitoring system.
