How to avoid the catastrophic accident for marine voyage is a subject worth to study. Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) could record the statement of the important equipments on the marine and record those in real-time, and kinds of important accident could be alarmed immediately.This paper takes some research on radar image acquisition technology which chooses the VDR as background. Radar image is one of the main gist for the post investigation of the marine accident, so the design of the high resolution radar image acquisition technology becomes one of the key technology for the VDR.This paper has gone deep into to the basic principle that the radar image was gathered , and combines the reality needs of system , and in that the selecting data transfer bus and the frame is deposited and capable has been gone forward the contrast to the radar image acquisition method , has put forward a kind of feasible design scheme. Having carried on the analysis of detail to the hardware design, having discussed FPGA overall structure and VHDL program frame, the hardware physical design has reasonably been satisfied the needs of subject.This paper sums up a lot of experiences at real circuit design and debug phase, and has accomplished PCI bus to read and write FPGA, by I C bus initialization AD9887A and FPGA to read and write SDRAM of VHDL programs and WINDOWS XP's driver of PCI, and finally having given out simulation and the radar card debug of each key FPGA modules, and possessing the very important reference meaning to being engaged in the correlation subject study.
