There is the critical period of the 3G mobile telecommunication technology, and the demands of the 3G wireless network terminal are growing faster and faster. It is very important that we should choose a high performance processor for 3G wireless network terminal and provide an integrated solution to meet the demands of digital communication in 3G period, and this problem is no doubt very essential.OMAP(Open Multimedia Applications Platform)is a processor architecture designed by TI to support the 3G wireless terminal application. OMAP processor platform is a milestone in wireless technology development, and it can provide the bandwidth and function for voice, digital and multimedia service. OMAP also provide the excellent performance for the advanced 3G wireless device with very low power. The research in this thesis is the development of an embedded platform, which has many extended interfaces and based on OMAP5910.A camera device driver is also presented, so the design provides an integrated solution at system level for the 3G wireless network terminal, and it has a lot of scientific research value and wide market foreground.Firstly, this thesis summarizes the characteristic and excellence of the OMAP technology, and describes the hardware architecture of OMAP5910 processor briefly. On the basis of the theory analysis, the thesis provides a design of FPGA based on OMAP5910 embedded platform, including the extended interfaces :touchscreen, hardware, ethernet ; the controlled interfaces: USB,UART ;the function made by FPGA. Secondly, the thesis introduces the hardware design of camera display system based on OMAP5910, including the camera interface and camera module, EMIFS and EMIFF interface, LCD interface. In the end, the thesis shows a integrated camera device driver using in the environment of embedded Linux operating system.
