In recent years, we have seen more and more public events, such as the South China Tiger Incident. They have been the hot spots in our life. Meanwhile, with the participation of network media increase, more and more new Internet terms such as pole vault, 70 yard and hide and seek have also appeared in our social life. Network effects on social and public events become more and more apparent, and these public events reached the deepest of our social life and the shackles of our legal system and also the dark side of society. Network as the fastest growing and most vigorous media covers these public events in time compared to traditional media, and it participates in the development of public events and outcomes.This thesis starts with network monitoring and discusses the characteristics of network monitoring, channels and network monitoring results. Meanwhile, this paper also pays attention to "human flesh search engine" to describe the negative effects in order to improve the positive effects of internet monitoring. This paper selects a landmark event "hide and seek event" in 2009 to analysis. "Hide and seek incident" was a milestone for network monitoring, set off by the users and be a public hot spot and be the first to investigate the incident with these internet uesrs, also with Yunnan government also attached importance to the views of users . This paper selects the information from the famous forum Tianya Forum and Sina, and other famous sites. Finally, the paper uses theoretical analysis and case analysis to make a comprehensive analysis of network monitoring, and get the following conclusions: To attach importance to the network supervision, improve online media social responsibility, re-locate network "gatekeeper" role, and pay attention to online media audience psychological research.
