Research On The Mechanism Of The Impact Of Cloud Computing Technology Application On Supply Chain Performance

Traditional IT architecture limits the development of enterprises’ ability to manage IT governance processes due to its rigidity,while cloud computing technology,as an advanced stage of traditional IT,has unique technical features that traditional IT does not possess,such as elasticity,dynamic scaling,resource pooling and shared environment,which can effectively solve this problem.However,existing research is unclear on how cloud computing technology affects supply chain IT governance processes and thus supply chain performance.Based on this,this paper explores the relationship between cloud computing technology and supply chain IT governance processes in the context of supply chain,and the mediating role of supply chain IT governance processes in the relationship between cloud computing technology and supply chain performance.To address the above issues,based on the unique technical characteristics of cloud computing and IT capability theory,this paper proposes the concept of cloud service capability(i.e.,cloud service flexibility capability and cloud service compatibility capability)and explores the impact of cloud service capability on the supply chain IT governance process and supply chain performance.Also,based on resource orchestration theory,this paper investigates the impact of two technical matching strategies(balanced matching and enhanced matching)of cloud service capabilities on supply chain IT governance processes and supply chain performance.Based on a questionnaire survey of companies using cloud computing technology in Beijing,Shanghai,Guangdong,Zhejiang,Hubei and Jiangsu provinces,309 valid questionnaires were collected for the study.The collected data were tested for reliability and validity and empirically analyzed using SPSS25.0 and Smart PLS3.0 software to derive the relationship between cloud service capability and supply chain IT governance process and supply chain performance and the impact of technology matching strategy of cloud service capability on supply chain IT governance process and supply chain performance.The results of the study showed that:(1)Cloud service capability has a positive impact on supply chain IT governance processes,and supply chain IT governance processes have a positive impact on supply chain performance.(2)The enhanced matching strategy of cloud service capability has a positive impact on supply chain IT governance processes,while the balanced matching strategy of cloud service capability has a negative impact on functional processes of supply chain IT governance.(3)Supply chain IT governance processes play a fully mediating role in the impact of cloud service capabilities on supply chain performance.In summary,this study empirically analyzes the impact of cloud computing technology on supply chain IT governance processes and supply chain performance,bridges part of the research gap in the field of cloud computing in supply chain management,and provides rationalized suggestions for enterprises to apply cloud computing technology and thus improve IT governance processes among upstream and downstream members of the supply chain.
