Investigation On The Status Quo Of User Education In "Double First-Class" University Libraries In China

As the education and information service functions of university libraries are further clarified,more university libraries have begun to educate users with diversified and practical means to better seek their own needs and improve their quality.After the country's goal of building a "double first-class" university was raised,the status of university libraries was further enhanced.Taking this as an opportunity to educate users of university libraries,the realization of the "double first-class" target could be accelerated.At present,the academic circle is not deep enough to study the user education of "double first-class" university libraries.The related researches have a strong regional nature,lack of comprehensiveness,and they do not reveal the current state of user education.This article investigates the current situation of library user education in 42 top universities in China.It is based on a broader perspective to discover the latest forms and content of user education,and to provide more reasonable suggestions for existing problems.The construction and development of user education in other college libraries is beneficial.This article firstly explains the concepts of "double first-class" universities,user education,library user education,and university library user education.Then it visits the home pages of the university library websites to explain the basic situation,column settings,and survey and statistical analysis of user distinctions;then statistically categorize the forms and contents of user education,analyze and compare the specific development of various user education forms and contents by university libraries,and find out the current state of the form and content of user education;subsequently,this article finds that there are incomplete column construction,insufficient user differentiation,lack of attractiveness and characteristics of form,lack of comprehensive content,poor supporting services,and lack of education evaluation and feedback;finally,on the basis of this,the article puts forward suggestions for improvement from many aspects including integrate user education resources,improve user differentiation,highlight the innovation and characteristics of user education forms,set up more comprehensive and contemporary user educationcontent,and enrich user education supporting services means and evaluation mechanisms for the development of multi-channel feedback.
