With the rapid development of industrialization and urbanization in China,a large number of young labor forces flood into cities from rural areas.A vulnerable group of left-behind children appears and continues to expand. Many reports on the plight of left-behind children caused widespread public debate.Children are the future of the country. For the rural areas that are looking forward to development and progress to become beautiful countryside, children are also the builders and hopes of the China Dream. As Tuchman said,“News is a window into which people understand the world”,the influence of media on social life is more profound than ever before, and more people learn about the living conditions of left-behind children through media.More and more mainstream media report on left-behind children, the media's presentation methods and reporting frame also affect people's perception of left-behind children. It will have an impact on the maintenance of the rights of left-behind children and the problem-solving process. This is also the practical significance of this study.Frame theory believes that the frame is the result of choice, emphasis and exclusion. This article draws on the three-decker structure theory of Professor Zang Guoren and Zhong Weiwen on the framework, and constructs the categories from the three levels of high, middle and micro-level structure, uses content analysis and sampling survey method to explore the framework of the mass media. With the release of the No.1 Document of the Central Committee in 2004 and the seminar held by the Ministry of Education on the study of left-behind children, the issue began to be incorporated into the government's proceedings.Reports on left-behind children appeared and continues to accumulated."People's Daily" is one of the typical media that focuses on left-behind children. This article selected and analyzed its related reports since 2004,trying to summarize what kind of framework the media follows.Based on the number and theme of reports, and government policies, this paper concludes that the report presents an emotional care framework that expresses social care in the issue report of left-behind children, supplemented by a fact-defining framework and a responsibility-oriented framework These frameworks become the main basis for newspaper production. This paper also found that the news on the left-behind children has undergone a long-term change.Although the social care as a traditional theme still appears, the media has gradually changed from a concern to a problem-solving approach. The specific performance is as follows:from the perspective of "emotional care" to"responsibility-oriented" in terms of topic construction, from"subjective presentation" to"panoramic presentation" in material selection, from "macro-graciousness" to "detailed and vivid" in textual form. This article believes that the evolution of the media's reporting framework is influenced by the institutional context, the reporting style of the media organization, and journalists.Since the media's coverage of left-behind children is a phased record of social progress, the media recommends that the media strengthen the status of left-behind children when reporting on the issue of left-behind children in the future. The media will focus on public opinion supervision and positive publicity.Unity, actively fulfilling the social responsibilities of the media, highlighting the panoramic presentation of material choices, adding a“verbal style”to the text organization, and increasing the readability and appeal of the report. Finally, the author also pointed out that the reporting framework formed under the influence of media organization positioning has advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand,it is conducive to providing styles for news production and improving work efficiency. On the other hand,it also imposes model restrictions on reports. As an important participant and recorder in the social process, media has demonstrated a full range of left-behind children, effectively exerted its social control functions, and promoted a positive interaction between media and society.
