Discourse Change Of Animation News Coverage In People's Daily From 1978 To 2018

Animation is a controversial topic.On the one hand,animation became the indispensable part of the recreational life.On the other hand,some young people lacking self-discipline were too much indulged in these animations so that their health and academic performances were affected.With the advent of the new century,China's animation industry is the focus of cultural industry development projects due to its tremendous economic importance.Under this kind of effect,the discourse of animation news coverage is changing constantly.However,we should notice that this transition implied fierce power struggle in China news field.This research choose People's Daily as the research object and content analysis method was used to analyze the animation reports from January 1st,1978 to December 31st,2018.In the vision of field theory and frame theory,we made a diachronic study on discourse change of animation news coverage.First of all,We concerned on the animation text,and research efforts were carried on in the aspects as follows:the quantity of reports,reporting attitude,keywords,reporting objects,sources and so on.Secondly,we summarized the narrative framework of animation reports and divided it into three main frameworks--social governance,industrial development and entertainment framework.According to the different characteristics of the report text and the dominant framework,we divided the animation report into three periods:1978-1988,1989-2002 and 2003-2018.After analyzing the typical reports of each period,We introduced the field theory to show the power substitution in news field and the interaction between the animation report and the social context.Finally,we found that the animation reports discourse has undergone a change from "beneficial entertainment" to "the embodiment of cultural invasion" to "engine of economic development".This kind of change reflected the variety of social power concept in the past 40 years.
