The News Commentary Research On “zhongsheng” Column Of People's Daily

The international situation is now very complex.Since China's mainstream media doesn't sound much in international issues and problems concerning China,the international community lacks understanding of real China,which lets the western media bring a lot of negative public opinion affecting the growing influence and social harmony of China.“Zhongsheng” column is a news commentary column established by “People's Daily”.Depending on its professional comments and authoritative voice,“Zhongsheng” column plays a great role in international public opinion and becomes an important information source for international community.This paper is based on research of “Zhongsheng” column,analyzing the whole process from topic selecting to augmenting and summarizing its characteristic as well as shortcoming,which provides a reference to the mainstream commentary research and the future development of the column.The study found that “Zhongsheng” column has distinct characteristic on participating in international affairs,expressing China's position on international issues and issues concerning China.The topic covers a wide range,highlights the sense of responsibility of great-power,sets the subject actively and doesn't avoid sensitive topic.In order to play the guiding role of news commentary,it focuses on international hot spots and western media's report,and selects topic based on events.In the way of argument,it combines criticism and interpretation,analyzing the beginning and ending,using words properly and griping the timeliness and discourse power.To the purpose of comment,it expresses China's purpose clearly,which is helpful to eliminate the misunderstanding of China and provides an important channel to know China's diplomatic and economic policy.Of course,the “Zhongsheng” column is not perfect.For example,although the selection of commentary topic has a wide range,the quantity and content is too concentrated,which leads to the topic repeats sometimes.As to the release of news commentary,the column lacks the interaction with new media,which limits the spread of information.Therefore,there is a lot of space to improve the column,such as increasing the diversity of topic selection,focusing more international problems relating to social or cultural issues,strengthening linkage with new media,broadening the channels of news commentary and so on.
