A Study On The Promotion Strategy Of The Information Service For The Elderly In The Municipal Public Libraries Of The Ethnic Minority Areas

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the current situation of the information service for the elderly in Inner Mongolia from the perspective of service provision,and to find out the problems of the public library in Inner Mongolia service for the elderly.and to provide theoretical guidance for the improvement of Inner Mongolia public library service.At the same time,it provides a reference for the development of the public libraries which have the same development level of the Inner Mongolia.In this study,firstly,the literature analysis method was used to extract the necessary service items which both Scholars at home and abroad think that the public libraries should provide for the aged.Secondly,the information service needs of 32 old people in Inner Mongolia public library were extracted by interview.And then,by comparing,the same items were preserved which appearing in both process,at the same times,the items which are referred to by the old user alone for more than two times in the interview were preserved.And then,this study use these items and the foreign scholars Noblo.Judy's questionnaire as the basis for the questionnaire,the final questionnaire of this study was formed.By use of this questionnaire,then this study used 12 Municipal Public Libraries in Inner Mongolia area as the specific object had the investigation.And by analyze the gathered data,his paper found out the most commonly used service providing form,problems in the providing of services for the elderly,and the best Public Libraries in providing service for the elderly in Inner Mongolia.And then,this paper provided some suggestions for perfect the Ethic minority areas' public libraries service for elderly by learning of the case of Australian public libraries public libraries in New South Wales and Hu Zhou city of Zhe Jiang Province.This study found that there are 2 to 5 different service barriers in the process of providing information service for the elderly.The most common way to "expand services" is to provide "telephone information consulting","the library home page links to the elderly activity center website,government website " service;Provide the most "special resources" are the "tape and disc","amplifier and presbyopic glasses,paper newspapers,periodicals and books suitable for old people's interesting ";The most common way to "group activities" is "play the movie","health knowledge lecture","parent-child activities","talent show" and "public lecture"";The most commonly provided "specialized services" are "reference","free internet access","old people borrow without readers","to provide space for group activities".In the aspect of service provision,there are many problems,such as poor service delivery and low availability,which can not meet the needs of the elderly.In the aspect of organization support,there are 4 problems:lack of specialized personnel and funds,lack of social cooperation,lack of service awareness.Finally,from the "enhance service awareness,improve service policies,strengthen social cooperation,broaden the scope of public library service","strengthening user research,to ensure that the service provides a comprehensive and effective","strengthen the computer application ability training,to improve the users' ability to acquire information" four aspects provided strategy to improve user service of Public Library in ethnic area.
