Recently, aging population is getting increasingly serious, because it is not only therealistic problem of families and individuals but involved in economy, politics, cultureand many other fields. So how to solve aging population problem has become thecommon concern of the whole society, especially for how to meet the spiritual andcultural needs for the elderly. However, public libraries not only play an important rolein public service system of culture, but have unique advantage to meet the spiritual andcultural needs for the elderly. Based on information rights, the research for older readerservice of public library will inject new vitality to reader service of the elderly.Firstly, the author interprets the background, the meaning, status quo andinnovation of this article, and then overviews the concerning content of aged reader s’service and proposes the importance of public library for aged readers’ service. Second,the author systematically analyses the contents of information right and characteristicsof information demand for the aged readers. Among which contents of information rightfor the aged readers becomes the focus of this article. Third, the author analyses thestatus quo and problem of aged readers’ service of public library on the perspective ofaged readers’ information right. At last, the author proposes specific strategy for agedreaders’ service of public library from the following two aspects: perfecting relatedsystem and improving way of service, aiming at providing specific and comprehensivereference for the study of aged readers’ service.
