Public library is a cultural name card of a city. With rapid development and wide application of network technology, digital communication and data processing technique,how the public read and acquire information and knowledge is changing fast. Besides,the progress of technique and facility also makes users have an increasingly higher expectation for the quality of service of library. So, user satisfaction evaluation has become an important reference for the service of library.This article conducts a case study of Guangzhou Library by employing various research methods, such as questionnaire, comparative analysis, and interview. It surveys service needs of library users and their evaluation of use experience in Guangzhou Library in the context of information society through extensive investigation, combined with questionnaire designed by Lib QUAL and other mature service quality evaluation systems; Based on user evaluation, we analyze the deficiencies of the public service provided by the library, and hence propose pertinent recommendations for improving service efficiency from three aspects—facilities and collection, information resources service, and promotional activities for library reading, in hope of providing a reference for the management and decision-making of library and helping library play a greater role in society.
