Research On The Application And Current Development Situation Of Data Journalism On The New Media Platform

Rapid development of computer technology and Internet stirs a big data fervor led by business.Under this background, the news industry is surging, Chinese news industry starts the“data journalism” fervor with the catalyst of "big data". Data news is comparatively mature in the practice and academic research of western developed countries. As newly emerging industry in our country, it is still at the primary stage of development, and it is weak in practice and research.Judging from the present condition, many commercial organizations and network media in our country have made good trials for data journalism practice, and people in the academic field also made a lot of researches on the notion, theory, and domestic and abroad practice of data journalism. The writer thinks that though the domestic media have three-year practice experience on data journalism, there are still some gaps in contrast to data journalism made by famous European media. However, as the necessary phase and required accumulation, that is very important for the development of data journalism in our country. So it is necessary to summarize and make research on this field, which is the reason for choosing this topic. This paper takes “data journalism” as the research object, which is on the verge of disciplinary hybrid. From the aspects of theory and practice, it researches on the data journalism practice of two big portals——Netease and Tencent,that is to say, the data news reports on “Sudoku” and “News Wikipedia”, so as to find the current situation, features, differences, and causes if the practice, and thence to give suggestions on the future data journalism practice and development in our country.This paper consists five chapters: Firstly, introduction. It is to introduce the research significance of this paper, the research situation, literature review, summarize the current situation of data journalism practices and academical researches at home and abroad, and discriminate the related definitions of data journalism. Secondly, research design. It is to illustrate the researchobject and research methods(it details the research category construction and sample selections in the content analysis method). Thirdly, counting, summarizing and analyzing research results. It counts the three kinds samples, production situation, production content, and data visualization,and summarizes and analyzes the causes of the research results. Fourthly, it puts forward the advice for the development of problems existing in our country’s data journalism practice. Fifthly,epilogue. It summarizes the research results and values, and illustrates the research shortages and their solutions.
