The Comparative Study On Chinese And American Political Data Journalism

With the development of big-data technology,the news media began to try to combine big data and news report,thus generating a new mode of reporting news--data journalism.After several years of development,data journalism has become a topic well known to the public from an unfamiliar area.Foreign data journalism practice longer than domestic ones,and it's generally more mature than domestic ones.There are many different categories of topics for data journalism,including political topics.Whether in China or abroad,political newts have been serious and rigorous because of the particularity of the topic.The characteristics of the report of the data journalism brought vitality to the obscure political content,which brought great changes to them.For example,abstract information can be presented in terms of specific images,tables,virtual reality,etc.It's more intuitive and concise than before.This article selects the data journalism produced by the New York Times and The Paper as examples.The New York Times is extremely influential in the United States and even the world.The Paper is one of the most superior news medias in China.Through the analysis,comparison and summarization of the political data journalism works of "Mei Shu Ke" and "The Upshot" in the selection of topics,interactive communication,data sources,visualization,I find that China's political data news exists some shortages,such as lack of content,source of data,simple visualization,and don't optimize the shortcomings of traditional political news reports.There are some suggestions for its improvement.Scholars have systematically studied the shortcomings of China's political news reports and data news reports,as well as the status and development of the data journalism of the "Mei Shu Ke" and "The Upshot".However,the research of domestic political data journalism is still blank.Whether it is from the perspective of political news or data news,it is both very necessary to explore the development of political data journalism in the future.Therefore,this article takes these two media as the representative,comparing and analyzing the status of domestic and foreign political data journalism,learning from advanced experience abroad,and then connects with China's reality to provide new ideas for the development of domestic political data news reports.
