Comparative Study Of Data Journalism At Home And Abroad From The Perspective Of Narratology

The global journalism industry has undergone tremendous changes due to "big data".Data journalism is regarded as the development trend of future journalism,and the narrative ability to tell and present data journalism is an important part of data journalism.The narrative ability has always been considered as the core competitiveness of journalism.In recent years,more and more domestic scholars have begun to pay attention to the narrative ability of data journalism.The narrative ability of data news is an appropriate expression of news topics and contents under the joint action of news forms and data.The content of data news expression can include three elements:first,as the news itself,just like traditional news,the news content and social issue level to be expressed;second,affected by media integration,as a news carrier,the fusion of multiple media forms Use;third,as the data content,the process and form level of being analyzed and presented.The narrative ability of data journalism is precisely the latter two's appropriate expression of news topics and content.And this article explores this "appropriate expression" method.In plain terms,how should domestic data news "tell a good story"?Based on the research value and representativeness of the research object,this article selects a total of 30 data journalism works from the "Data News" section of the domestic Caixin website from 2014 to 2019,and the most authoritative award in the international data journalism world-Global,Data Journalism Award:30 award-winning articles from 2014 to 2019 for content analysis.The specific analysis is based on the theory of the four basic frameworks of journalist He Chun on news narratology("narrative sound","narrative grammar","narrative discourse" and "narrative acceptance").The concrete analysis is made from seven angles:"narrative perspective","narrative time","narrative mode","visual narrative","narrative scene" and "interactive narrative".This paper uses a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods.After comparing and analyzing the representative data news reports at home and abroad,the author summarizes many narrative characteristics of domestic data news compared to foreign data news reports.Domestic data news narratives are characterized by weak"objectivity" and strong "intervention".They prefer more complex narrative models and higher levels of consciousness.They also have a higher awareness of constructing narrative scenes and tend to use more visual elements and interactive means help its narrative.Based on the above research conclusions,this article provides suggestions for domestic data news narratives from several aspects:The first is that domestic data journalism should not be excessive in the processing and organization of data materials.It is necessary to adhere to the "objectivity" of the news.The second is to be good at using appropriate narrative models to help narrative.The third is to use more practical visual narration In terms of sexual considerations,visual elements should serve the news content.Fourth,in the construction of narrative scenes and the use of interactive technologies,it is necessary to maintain its own advantages and further improve the narrative ability.
