Manufacturing industry plays an important role in the national economy and it is an important factor to measure the productivity level of a country. Meanwhile the manufacturing technology is the power and source of the manufacturing industry.Therefore the manufacturing powers are always technology powers. At present, the domestic manufacturing industry is developing vigorously, but is also facing varionus challenges, such as the severe labor shortages at home, the competition pressure from foreign manufacturing industry and the ability to satisfy customer’s updating needs. The only way for China to address the above mentioned problems and develop more and more high and new technologies and production equipments used to manufacturing industry is to enhance the science and technology level of this industry through constantly introducing advanced technology and strengthening the capability of independent innovation.In this paper, we studied a kind of production equipment control system used in the mobile phone manufacturing industry, namely the mobile phone medium plate positioning control system. The machine vision and robot technology and the PC-based control technology are applied in this system. In this system, the medium plate positioning control is achieved by adopting the control mode of the upper cpmputer and the lower computer. The upper computer mainly conducts data communicating and processing; the lower computer carrys out the logic control of equipments. We mainly studied the PC-based logic control technology used to achieve the whole coordinating action, the technical cooperation between the machine vision and the robot arms, the communication architecture rationality and stability study of the whole control system, and the data storage, processing and uploading technology of the upper computer. After many times modifications and tests to the unreasonable parts of the system in the assembly and testing process, we finally completed the development of the whole control system and launched itsuccessfully. The equipment meeted the design requirements in the technical aspects of production accuracy, cycle time and yield rate.In this paper, we designed the hardware components of the medium plate positioning control system from two aspects: the electronic control components and the mechanism workpieces. The electrical control components mainly include: the main electrical control components of Bechoff PLC, Bechoff IO module, Bechoff electric motor and MITSUBISHI robots, Keyence intelligent camera, laser detection ultra high-speed contour detector and metal thickness measuring instrument. The mechanism workpieces are classified by modules and mainly consist of: runner module, medium plate thickness detection module, lift module, medium plate positioning adjusting module, medium plate threaded hole counterpoint module,medium plate gap measurement module and the robot locking screw module. The software system development of the the positioning plate control system consists of:the C#-based upper computer program development, Beckhoff PLC program development, laser detection software development, robot program development and the machine vision software development. Communication technology mainly leverages TCP communication technology and RS232 communication technology.The data storage employs database for data access.The mobile phone production equipment based on the mobile phone medium plate positioning control system was debugged in January 2015 and customers began to use this kind of phones in February 2015. The equipment operated in good condition in the producting process.
