The Study Of The Reading Promotion Activities In Medical University Library

The advocacy of better reading culture and effective practice of reading pro motion service are the responsibility of college libraries, as well as the essensial part of its cultural construction. Medical college libraries should pay more attent ion to nurture the characterictics of medical students and give them reading inst ruction,while focusing on their study of major subjects. Therefore, this would m ake an positive impact on the foster of pofessional quality and healthy personali ty for medical students.By analyzing the practices of reading promotion of eight domestic and oversea medical colleges, the article described the differences between domestic and oversea universities in reading promotion. With the checking-out lists of Dalian Medical University Library and book recommendation list of book-review competition, the reading tendency of modern medical students has been analyzed and a variety of reading promotion activities organized by Dalian Medical University Library have been described in details, and the problems of these activities in medical universities have been found and investigated. Consequently, the article described the relative stretagies and solution to these problems. In conclusion, the new models of reading promotion of medical universities’ libraries which would be suitable for Chinese medical colleges has been proposed.
