Since CMOS image sensors appeared in 1969 and CCD image sensor appeared in 1970, image capture and transmission technology is more widely used in civil industrial, defense and scientific research fields, especially in the defense field. The continuous improvement of real-time image and precision requirements and continuous development of imaging technology, making the amount of image data acquisition become very large, puts forward a higher demand of high-speed image acquisition and transmission capability. So how to collect, store and fast transmit real-time image data is an effective means to solve this problem.This paper centers to solve the problem of real-time image data discusses the storage and transmission of image data, and compares the storage and transmission of several image datum, and ultimately gets the optimal solution.The methods of solving the problem of real-time image in this paper are as follows:1. Save the collected image data by FPGA internal RAM resources circularly;2. After considering the transmission efficiency and real-time problem, read first and then transmit the stored data to avoid the maximum delay problems brought by conventional transmission mode of reading a frame then transmitting a frame.3. Since this paper aims to solve fast transmission and real-time problems of image data, the transmission errors data (receiving the wrong data or not receiving) will be outdated and ineffective, so outdated data will be discarded;4. the Ethernet UDP transport protocol can meet the need of rapid transmission of the image data in this paper, so UDP packet format is used for fast transmissionBased on the resolving solution above, this article by running simulations and engineering prototype case, gives the effectiveness of the above-mentioned solution.
