Research On The Resource Integration Mode Of Institutional Repository

Since the emergence of open access movement,theoretical research and practical research on open access quickly unfolded. Open access are playing an important role on improving the level of academics and science research institutions and improving the Academic influence of both. For example,it is lowering the threshold to get professional research literature,narrowing the distance between the public and the academic,and makeing it easier for the public understanding of science; it is conducive to make academic research become more fair, just, open and increase the transparency of research to curb academic corruption more effectively; break the regional, industry, temporal barriers of public to access to information on. At last, all people can access to information resources with no regional differences, and it is conductive to the promotion of information balanced in all regionl and areas.Institutional repository-an important way to achieve open access movement, is becoming a hot topic of researcher at home and abroad gradually, the number of institutions also grows exponentially. Relying on the rise and push of open access movement, IR is becoming one of the important ways of modern scientific information exchange, and changing the mode of academic exchange and publishing modle; it is increasing the number of digital information resources,and transforming the communication patterns of literature from traditional paper documents academic exchanges, to digital resources academic exchange changes.However, since a long time, it has been unable to achieve adequate resources sharing between institutional repositories. The reason is the lack of effective mechanisms for sharing among different types, different organizations, and different sources of information. It made "information silos" in the construction of institutional repository resources, and eventually it made the digital information resources unable to be used as a whole to maximize its value.In this paper, it has seven chapters, the whole paper attempts to make a profound analysis about the resource integration of institutional repositories from the perspective of resource management. The first three chapters, it is sorting out the review of existing literature on institutional repositories and resources integration, comprehensive, and is integrating all the evaluation of institutional repositories and the elements of building the institutional repositories.Then,it extract the factors resource-related in the process of institutional repositories, such as, submission policies, legal policies, privacy policy, financial security, the type of resources, content range of resources, the author of resources, resource gathering means, resources submitted means, integration of heterogeneous resources, the format of resources, metadata standards, academic quality of resources, and making the comprehensive theory first.In the fourth chapter, it’s selecting 4 representative of the domestic institutional repositories:Xiamen University Institutional Repository, Chinese Academy of Sciences Institutional Repository, National Taiwan University Institutional Repository (NTUR), Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Institutional Repository (HKUST), and comparative analysis, summarizes knowledge resource integration process of building our institutional experience.The next two chapters, it put forward the mode of resource integration during the process of institutional repositories, on the basis of both of the theoretical and practical studies. According to the life cycle of institutional repositories of digital resources, the institutional repository of resources from the collection stage to stage provides a good deal of resources to the user, the whole process is divided into three modules:resource storage module, resource management module, a resource service module, in these three modules, discusses the key elements of the institutional repository of resources relevant to the analysis of the relationship between the elements, resource integration model for the analysis of digital processes and resources to deal with the specific content, and finally proposed the development of countermeasures IRs resource integration model.The last chapter is summarying the whole paper and make the future outlook.
