Research On Construction Model And Operational Mechanism Of Institutional Repositories

At present, along with the pricking up of imbalance between the access to scientific information and the demand for scientific information caused by "academic exchange crisis" ,the surge of digital intelligence capital brought by digital academic prosperity, digital scientific information in network environment becomes more and more disorderedly scattered .Thus how to balance scholars's demand for scientific information and the access to scientific information so that scholars can regain the right to control scientific information exchange, how to have the custody of scientific information effectively and make it have a long-term access, and fully demonstrate the academics achievements cohesion of institutions and scholars, is the problem which institutions and Scholars have long been in the search for and attempt to resolve. Because of the stimulation of this dynamic source ,the promotion of OA movement, the drawing of sharing and innovation of scientific information and knowledge, the sustain of digital information technology and standard, the support from institution principal part and guidance from relevant theory and practice progress, institutional repository has gradually from brewing to pracitc to expand and lastly broad the stage of digital information resources preservation, and became one of the important platform of digital scientific information's long term preservation and access. The construction and development of institution repository is of great significance for further promoting the development of digital information resources management system, expanding the digital information resources services, accelerating the information and knowledge exchange rate, eliminating the"digital gap", enlarging the sharing of information, improving the ability of knowledge innovation, and enhancing the quality of social development.As the cutting-edge and hot issue concerned by scholars in library and information science, institutional repository related research and practice have got certain achievements. on the basis of literature review on institutional repository theory research and practice progress, from the start point of institutional research theory foundation, introduces theoretical basis such as the system theory, the sharing of information resources theory, the control theory and the motivation theory; from the starting point of institutional repository's relevant theory, makes a comprehensive comparative analysis on institutional repositories, academic digital archives and domain knowledge repositories. Discusses the institutional repositories influencing factors from the aspects of principal part, culture and law, technology standards and fund cost, construct an institutional influencing factor model; making resources integration and institutional repository optimization as tenet, on the basis of great deal of research and experts consulting, summarizes the current institutional repository building models and makes a comprehensive and detailed analysis on each model's advantages and disadvantages. Based on the above research, the author considers the institutional repository operational mechanism as a whole, from the system point of view to make in-depth analysis and discussion, and builds an overall model of institutional repository operational mechanism; lastly, analyzes the features and key issues in our country's institutional repository building, puts forward several targeted and practical recommendations and countermeasures for institutional repository construction development in our country.Based on redefining the basic concept of institutional repository, this dissertation attempts to define the connotation of institutional repository, demonstrate the benefit of different level from institutional repository, extrude the institutional repository's status in digital information resources management system, explore the influencing factors of institutional repositories and optimize the choice of institutional repository's building model ,in order to make a further comprehensive explanation to institutional operational mechanism from macro-system point of view, reveals the law of its development, enrich the theory research of institutional repository and guide the whole practical process of institutional repository.This paper is made up of 10 chapters, the mainChapter I is introduction. From the start point of this dissertation's background, expatiates the theoretical and practical significance of the thesis's study, classifies, summarizes and makes an overview on the theoretical research status quo and practical progress of institutional repository both domestic and abroad, and then make a review on it. And then concludes with a summary of the study, study methods, as well as innovation point.Chapter II is the comparison of institutional theory foundation and related digital knowledge repository. from the point view of demand theory guidance of institutional repository operational mechanisms, introduces theoretical basis such as the system theory, the sharing of information resources theory, the control theory and the motivation theory; on the basis of defining the connotation of institutional repository, makes a detailed analysis on the characteristic of institutional repository, and from the macro, meso and micro level, expatiates the benefit of institutional repository, constructs a benefit chain of institutional repository, and analyzes the Interaction mechanism among them. on the basis of above, from the aspect of commonality and differences, makes a comprehensive comparative analysis on institutional repositories, academic digital archives and domain knowledge repositories, and points out that the institutional repository has a close relationship with the other two.Chapter III is institutional influencing factor. based on building an institutional influencing factor model, makes a comprehensive and further discuss on institutional repository from the four aspects of principal part, culture and law, technology standards and fund cost, which provides a foundation for institutional repository operational mechanism.Chapter IV is institutional repository construction model. on the basis of great deal of research and experts consulting, systematically summarizes the current institutional repository construction models and put forward the two construction models of current institutional repositories which are ontology model and consortial model who is made up with centralizing style and harvesting style. On the above basis, makes a comprehensive and detailed analysis on each model's advantages and disadvantages, and provides choice criterion for institution to build repositories.Chapter V is the dynamic mechanism of institutional repository. Based on defining the connotation of institutional repository dynamic mechanism, proposes the dynamic factors of institutional repository construction development, and points out that the demand for long-term preservation and access of digital assets is the dynamic source of institutional repository development, the OA movement is the impetus dynamic of institutional repository development, the information and knowledge and information sharing is the pull dynamic of institutional repository, the theory study and practical progress is the guidance dynamic of institutional repository development, the digital information technology and standards are the sustainment dynamic, the institutional principal part is the support dynamic, and then analyzes the interaction mechanisms of these dynamics, and constructs an dynamic model of institutional repository.The Chapter VI is the coordination and motivation mechanisms of institutional repository based on analyzing the impendency of coordination and motivation mechanism, from the principle of interests, discrepancy, diversity, problem, convenience, puts forward the basic principle of making coordination motivation for institutional repository; and bring forward the strategy and method of coordination motivation of institutional repository, builds an institutional repository coordination motivation model.The chapter VII is institutional repository control mechanism. Based on analyzing the necessity of institutional repository control mechanism, makes a further expatiation on institutional repository control mechanism from the 3 dimension of institutional repository quality control, intellectual property and authority control mechanism, constructs an institutional repository control model.Chapter VIII is institutional repository sharing mechanism. Based on analyzing the inevitability of institutional repository sharing mechanism, brings up the four principle of institutional repository sharing which are standardization principle, maneuverability principle, systematicness principle and sustainability principle, builds an institutional sharing mechanism model based on OAIS reference model and OAI-PMH protocol, and takes DSpace consortial as example to expatiates it ,and at last constructs an overall institutional repository operational mechanism model from the aspect of systematic according to the institutional operational mechanism. Chapter IX is the institutional construction development countermeasure of our country.based on the investigation on the status quo of our country's institutional repository construction, comes up with the key issues faced by our country's institutional construction, including inadequate cognition to open access, lack of policy guidance and program support from macro-level, be short of the guidance of forerunner model practice.thus,the author puts forward several targeted and practical recommendations and countermeasures for institutional repository construction development in our country.Chapter X is conclusion and prospect. The author makes a conclusion to the dissertation and points out the problems to be resolves and the further research directions in the future.
