Research Of Designing An Initial Model Of Institutional Repository For BUPT

Institutional Repository is a database platform built by the special institution, which is used to save the resources produced by the people of the institution for a long term, and on which anybody can abstain any resource by free.My paper which is composed by five parts aims at researching the initial model of Institutional Repository of BUPT and the problems to which need to be paid attention in the building process. It introduces the status quo of the Institutional Repository in the first part, which includes the definitions, characteristics, functions and some primary software tools of Institutional Repository. Then, it presents the pinions on the Institutional Repository which comes from the penman. In the second part, the paper presents an initial model of the BUPT's Institutional Repository, and expatiates the composing, structure, user interface, learning system, communication system and personal space. The third part is on the building process which includes nine steps of the Institutional Repository, and in the process, some prime problems which should be add attention to are described in the followed part. In the last part we discussed the future development models of the Institutional Repository.
