Construction Of Institutional Repository In China

Institutional repositories arise as the "academic crisis" comes forth and the open accessconcept is gradually recognized. At present, institutional repository are vigorous all the world,and developing countries are also actively involved in the development of institutionalrepositories.In order to have an objective understanding of the current situation of institutionalrepository domestic, this paper takes the OpenDOAR as the information origin, uses literatureresearch, comparative analysis and other methods to conduct a statistical analysis on theinstitutional repository development, and finds that institutional repository development facesa number of problems, such as the resources are not abundant, the degree of standardization islow, the platform function is imperfect, and many other issues. Then four reasons are pointedout for these problems: publicity efforts, the guidance of national policy, financial problems,and the access to resources. At last, the development strategy of institutional repositorydevelopment from are made: strengthen the publicity so that the open access concept enjoyspopular support, get the national and institutional policies, funding and organizational support,promote the development of the institutional repository content, make comprehensiveresource regulatory system, strengthen the role of libraries in institutional repositorydevelopment, build institutional repositories Union, handle intellectual property issues, andStrengthen the organizational building of institutional repositories.
