The Evaluation Research On Extending Services Of Chinese Public Libraries

Public libraries are an important part of Chinese basic public cultural service system, and playing an important role in ensuring the basic cultural rights and interests of citizens, With the rapid development of social economy and culture, the needs of our citizens is more urgent in knowledge and information. And the public library as a public institution of our country, has the responsibility and obligation to meet the needs of various classes of public service, However, the reality is, the development of Internet technology makes the library is no longer the only channel to obtain knowledge and information for readers, The library is facing a serious threat in its survival and development, In order not to be eliminated, public libraries must reform the traditional services,So that library services can meet the needs of all segments of the masses. Library would have more readers and developing. In this case, extending services of public libraries is a matter of course.Extending service of public libraries is based on traditional services of libraries (such as literature lending, document delivery, etc.),with the help of libraries’ resources and technical advantages, and according to the needs of users, which innovate in service space, service time, service targets, expand the scope of services of the library and rich services so as to enhance the quality of library services, and improve readers’ satisfaction. The development of libraries’ extending service is an important performance of with times.At present, extending services of Chinese public libraries are booming, and the level of service are promoting, but it lacks appropriate evaluation system, how about the development of extending services,it can not accurately measure, Therefore,it is necessary to carry a research on evaluation System for extending services Earlier in this paper, through the relevant study of libraries’ extending service at home and abroad, we understand the development situation of it,and analyse its connotation, characteristics and types,then analyse its influence factors for designing its indicator system of evaluation, The indicator system include4first level indexes,12second level indexes and43third level indexes, and confirms relatively reasonable evaluation methods, and designs the evaluation index system of "public libraries’ extending service expert questionnaire", through10universities/library experts on Libraries Science, the questionnaire survey to determine the weights of every index, Finally using the design of evaluation index to evaluate library of31provinces in China, then analyzing the evaluation results, find that there were problems, and puts forward corresponding suggestions for improvement.
