In the second half of2013, Taiwan cooking oil giants including,Chang ChiFoodstuff Factory Co.,Ting Hsin, Flavor Full were found that most of their productswere produced by mixing cheap oil, salad oil,cottonseed oil and pigment up,and theraw material composition which they claim to have is very few.The truth is “peanutoil”has no " peanut" and there is no chili in the chilli oil at all.The event spread to awide range because of the well-knownness of the enterprise involved.TaiwanCooking Oil Fraud caused a huge shock in and outside the island,and become thefocus of media scramble to report, and a series of food safety crisis storm from instantnoodles to milk.Based on frame theory, this paper selected987Taiwan Cooking Oil fraud reportsof the top three newspapers in Taiwan----United Daily News,China Times,LibertyTimes as sample,.Guided by the theory framework, this paper has the amount ofreports, news genre, news theme, reporting tone, sources, attribution of accountabilitysix aspects to carry on the analysis, and try to present Taiwan newspapers’ reportingframework in the field of food safety reflected by this event, Besides,this researchalso keeps an eye on the specific mechanism framework theory play in this newsreport, and analyzes the reporting framework differences between each newspaperscaused by political stands, the newspaper characterThrough the sample analysis, this study found that newspapers have overreportedin reporting amount, and the reporting topic is concentrated, the genre is lack ofchange, and use negative news tone overall. Besides,each newspaper has their ownsources to lay particular stress on, and the attribution of accountability is alsodifferent,which both reflects their characteristics.In conclusion,this paper holds that the mainstream newspapers in Taiwanrepresented by three main newspapers is well-behaved in promptness.But It is a pitythat they did not to report the events in a comprehensive, objective and scientificway. This kind of distortion and imbalance, not only cannot provide true information to the reader to make the right decision, but also not conducive to the healthydevelopment of food industry. However we also found that, all the three newspapersput the government source as the major source,which with the government makeannouncement in a timely manner makes the reports of high authority.And it is also areflection of a better food safety information transmission system in Taiwan thanmainland China. Finally, the study also found that even in such an objective foodsafety events, all the newspapers reports also deeply marked by their political standsand tendency.
