From May to November,2013, a series of problems about food safety broke out in Taiwan. Food safety crisis, in a serious way, became public concerns and showed a trend of high frequency and large-scale. Faced with increasingly serious food safety problems, the public is prone to be panic, pessimistic and psychologically antagonistic. Especially in Taiwan where great importance is always attached to food safety, media coverage about food safety problems becomes an important source of information for the public. The author of the paper is going to make a research on the following issues: how the media presents the coverage about food safety problems to the public, what affects the generation of news during the process of presentation, what effect does this kind of coverage bring about, what problems exist and what lessons we can learn from it, these questions become the issues which need studying deeply.Based on the theory of frame construction, combined quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, from aspects of the number of coverage, the themes of coverage, the sources of information, keywords, the tones of coverage, lens language and the nature of issues, this article analyzes the frame construction of Taiwan TV medias’ coverage about food safety incidents in detail and in depth. It analyzes and studies the coverage made by Formosa Television and China Television, the two important representatives of Taiwan TV medias, about "Taiwan food safety incidents" from May 2013 to November 2013. According to research, it is found that the Taiwan TV medias’ coverage frame about food safety incidents has its own obvious characteristics, presenting as a critical frame with the guidance of livelihood. And according to its special social situation, the underlying cause of its characteristics and the effect it brought out could be found out. In the last part, the existing problems about the frame have been pointed out and the suggestions also have been raised as well as its reference meaning.
