The Present Situation Investigation And Strategies Research On Marine Consciousness Of High School Students In Urumqi

With the mushrooming of national economy, China is beginning to enter the age of marine economy and accelerating its pace of “marching” towards ocean. Under the circumstances, our national marine consciousness is gradually awakened, but if compared with other marine power, we are still lagged behind and our “ knowledge reserve and executive force” for protecting maritime rights and interests is still in deficiency.This paper, through the investigation and research of the marine consciousness of students in Urumqi BAYI High School and Middle School Attached to Xinjiang Normal University, draws the conclusion that high school students have a strong sense of maritime sovereignty but lack of rationality, featured with obvious blindness and shortage of marine knowledge reserve. At the same time, geography teachers themselves are rarely trained with marine knowledge and the approach and method of teaching marine knowledge need to be improved. In addition, school attaches inadequate importance to the compulsory part- marine geography, worsening the status of students’ insufficient marine knowledge. High school, the initial stage linking to university and society, and with the fact that high school students have such weak marine consciousness, I analyze the significance and meaning of strengthening high school students’ marine consciousness.In the end, according to the current status of Urumqi high school students’ marine consciousness, I proposed several cultivating measures from aspect of geography teaching in high school. Firstly, properly increase the class hours of marine geography, pay enough attention to marine geography; Secondly, teachers need to possess strong marine consciousness and marine knowledge reserve; Thirdly, school can carry out various marine teaching activities, such as lectures, essay competition, speech competition, knowledge contest and community propaganda and education of marine knowledge; Fourthly, develop school-based marine courses depending on marine culture.High school students are national pillars, strengthening the education of students’ marine consciousness can firm their resolution and faith of striving for marine career, and lay the foundation for cultivating national marine professionals.
