Along with in depth of2G transfer to3G or LTE,various Ethernet data business presentsscale expansion, traditional transfer network which bases on TDM technology, profit of eachbit fell sharply, flaws of technology have been exposed. Under those backgrounds, packet ofnetwork shows obvious growth, there is difference when internal carriers choosetechnology,China Telecom keeps experimenting in different packets technology, IPRAN isthe preferred option so far. Application of new technology made private line access needs toconsider problems of traditional TDM private line, such as lacking flexible and inefficiency,consider those problems helps carriers provide more various services for private line,improve ability of private line access and reduce costs of network.From network access side, if each carrier wants to head start in competition, they needmake high bandwidth, high quality and subtle operation bigger and stronger to builtcompetitive advantage. Fiber-optic broadband access will become the final model offixed-line broadband, this becomes consensus between entire industries. Fixed-linebroadband likes capillaries, equipment is widely distributed, network status is complicatedand huge investment of transformation, all above those become the most difficult points forcarriers merge triple network. Because of this, carriers speed up their own acceleratenetwork plans. Fiber-optic broadband has lots features, such as lager capacity, lower pricefor unit bandwidth, green environment protection and so on. Base on those, carriers moreprefer choose FTTH mode, because it has more features at function, maintenance, cost andso on.The main work of this paper can be summarized as the following aspects:(1) Review the status of the access network technology and GPON access technology athome and abroad. On this basis, discusses the principle of GPON and networking model.This will lay the foundation for subsequent using GPON in the actual application.(2) Classify the customers by the present actual demand. The author analysed thecharacteristic by comparing GPON technology with traditional DSL, LAN accesstechnology in all aspects in view of the project implementation. We discussed the advantagesof using GPON technology in detail.(3) According to the actual cell engineering background, analyzing the effect of cell environment on GPON access network design, mainly including the security of accessnetwork, the reliability of the circuit, the diversity of the user’s business, the expansioncapability of basic network.(4) Network designing for the broadband access of the district based on GPON accesstechnology on fully argument premise.Analysing the difficulty in construction and solvingthe problems by giving a concrete solution. Budget and capital investments in the project areintroduced in detail. On basis of ensuring the funds, the author design a stable and reliableaccess network based on GPON technology as much as possible.The work of this paper can provide basis and practical experiences to other similar designfor access network.
