With the development of broadband services, such as HDTV, IPTV, distance education, and high-speed internet access, establishing a high bandwidth, large capacity, multi-service supporting broadband access network, is the inevitable selection to meet user demand for the telecom operators. The construction of broadband access network, which is also mentioned in government work reports of all level to strengthen the construction of network infrastructure, is currently the key project of operators. Optical fiber access network with FTTH as the main mode is developing fast. PON,with the advantage of low failure rate, large capacity, highbandwidth, is considered to be the ultimate solution for broadband access network by the communication field. In all PON technologies, GPON because of its excellent performances has been widely used in recent years. Establishing a high bandwidth, large capacity, support for multiple business broadband access network is the telecom operators to adapt to the development of information society, the inevitable choice of satisfy user needs of the business,The construction of broadband access network is one of the key project of the telecom operators.This thesis does researches on construction scheme of Home Broadband Network based on GPON technology. Firstly, we introduce the development of PON technology, and conduct a comprehensive comparison of APON, EPON and GPON. Analyses show that GPON is currently the best prospect of PON technology, for GPON has a more flexible downlink/uplink rate allocation, a higher bandwidth, a higher capacity, as well as a more efficient TDM traffic carrying capacity and other advantages. These advantages can improve the system utilization efficiency of uplink bandwidths, adapt to the characteristics of Internet business bandwidth mutation, meets the concurrent multi-type service needs of high bandwidth, allows users to enjoy a higher quality of data services, is currently the best PON technology development prospects, is also a family of choice for broadband.Then, according to the strategy of providing service access capability quickly, and ondemand construction, this thesis focuses on the research of Home Broadband Network planning and construction scheme based on GPON technology, including the 'grid' construction strategy of GPON backbone network, setting mode of optical splitters, programming model of ODN backbone optical cable, and the principle of ONU construction etc,and further study of these principles in the application of the network construction.Finally, this thesis chooses Paradise a high-rise residential area as a representative example to conduct a GPON engineering application, Design the network construction scheme, selection of network equipment, synchronous detection in the process of network construction business quality, test results show speed has reached the expected, can effectively guide the planning and construction principles formulated by the home broadband network construction, to provide high broadband and save network investment target, high bandwidth for the future broadband cable provides a theoretical basis and practical experience..
