China is the world’s the largest coal consumption country and at the same time it’s acountry whose accident has occurred frequently. Along with the coal mining and frequentmine disaster, and gas accident has been the first killer that threatens the coal and minesafety. In order to realize scientific, automation and accuracy prevention of the mine safetyproduction and prevent accidents from occurring, we need a multi-point and multi-safetyparameter diction and alarm system which can follow along with the dynamic face ofmine, and it has high reliability, moderate cost and high degree of automation.We applied wireless sensor networks based on ZigBee to coal and mine safetymonitoring and mine gas detection system. This system consists three parts of detectinginstrument, relay station of communication systems and supervision management system,and the hardware adopted modular design. The detecting instrument is the siteenvironment to detect and the front-end of the entire monitoring system, and it gathers thegas concentration, temperature and wind speed of field parameters, and send to MCU aftersignal transformation, and then exchange data with wireless transceiver module and therelay station after being analyzed by MCU.The communication systems relay station is the junction of wired and wirelesscommunications, integrated communications department, is the system central node. Itsultimate end of node is mainly consists of the ZigBee wireless transmission chip CC2530and the MCU, CC2530MCU receives data information of the detecting instrumentthrough wireless communication, and transmits through a parallel port to the MCU, whichcarries out display and alarm, and then transmits the information through the RS485bus toIPC, and it realizes long-instance transmission.The supervision management system is the place that the information flow of theentire network system gathered, it can judge and handle on-site parameters quickly andaccurately, and display and alarm in a realistic and effective way, and handleemergencies.The supervision management software is developed using Kingview6.51.The software has the features of good portability, short period of developing and easydebugging and upgrading.The test result indicated that the system has reliable work, distinctive nuance, easymanagement, flexible composition, high performance price ratio and so on. It has a certainadvantages and practicability, and is sure to have a bright prospect of development.
