The Research Of University Archives’ Social Service

University Archives has played a huge role in the development andteaching and research work in universities，but the provision of servicesto the community by the University Archives has been in a backwardstate. In the process of building service-oriented government in China，the voices of the public disclosure of public sector information growinglouder and louder. University Archives as public sector should activelyprovide social services. On the one hand， the University Archives toprovide social services is a national resource allocation， any citizen hasthe right to enjoy the service. University Archives backward servicecapabilities， on the other hand， not only contrary to the requirementsof the national service-oriented government building and social sharingrequirements of archival information resources， but also is notconducive to the Archives of own development， is not conducive tofurther enhance and play to the archives of public service capacity.The papers under the guidance of the spirit of “to improve publiccultural service system "of the18th Meeting of the National People’s Congress of the Communist Party of China， aimed at through apreliminary study on the present situation of social services of theUniversity archives in the new era， it is proposed to optimize theUniversity archives social services， to expand the service groups ofUniversity Archives， and improve the development strategy of publiccultural service system. The progress of University Archives， not onlyhelp to improve the image of the university， but also the driving forceof social and public cultural service system constantly improve. The newchanges in the face of a new era， university archivist should workcontinuously reform and innovation， to achieve the social value of thearchives and archivists. The preliminary study of this paper is mainlyreflected in the following aspects:（1）Proposed and analyzed that carry out social services is theInevitable road of the University Archives to meet the needs of thecommunity and to seek their own development.（2）Through the method of case analysis， recognizing theoutstanding problems of the University archives service， that areinformation is not high degree of openness、single and low qualityservices、the service facilities lag behind and so on. The cause of theproblem is due to the unsure of its role、the shortage of high-qualityarchivists and archives discretion improper use.(3) Summed up that the Foreign University Archives has a rich source archives， they provide services based on the needs of thecommunity-oriented，pay attention to people-oriented，and the conceptof leisure mix in the services provided， it has high reference value forUniversity Archives to carry out the social services.(4) Suggestions on how to broaden the field of University ArchivesService， enhance the means of archives services and strengthen thesupport of archives service by improving laws and regulations， theestablishment of quality control， construction of network resources，and market-oriented public service and building personnel.
