Study On Social Networking Service In The University Library

Along with the rapid development of social networking service, the university library is alsoactively explore the use of SNS because it can provide convenient and fast responses, and thepersonalized needs to a user. At present, university library social network service application is still ina development stage. To university libraries in China, it must face following issues: what kinds ofsocial networking services they can provide? How the effectiveness it has? What do the readers reallywant in the library social networking services? In response to these questions, the application studieson social networking service in university library in china are investigated in the thesis. The maincontents are as follows.Starting with the investigation of virtual community service platform in the “211-Project”university libraries, the service contents and features of SNS are analyzed in the four kinds ofplatform from renren, sina microblog, forum and Wechat. Then, Representaive of libraries were selectto compare in the application status and effect in the three platforms from renren, sina microblog andforum. According to questionnaire survey on service needs of readers in the library of NanjingUniversity of Aeronautics and Astronautics, the reliability and validity of the questionnaire are testedby SPSS software. Afterwards, a four-dimension model for the effectiveness of SNS in universitylibrary is established by using AMOS, the structural modeling software. According to the researchstatus and the questionnaire results of SNS platform, put forward the countermeasures for universitylibrary social networking service from three aspects of platform, service content and characteristicsand management mechanism of SNS. Based upon the wechat platform, the framework of servicecontents of university library are drawn up. And it was applied in Nanjing University of Aeronauticsand Astronautics. Finally, some countermeasures and suggestions are proposed for university library,according to the model of social networking service.
