The information resources are more important during the development of society, and archives have more opportunities and challenges for it is a important constituent of information resources.University archives is a component of social service system of the archives, it also a element of university- a hub of culture and science, so it has the dual responsibility to serve the community and universities. As the forefront of technological and cultural development, Universities are also the pioneer to implement of new ideas, new tools, so study the development strategy of university archives department in the new period can give some useful suggestions to other kinds of archives.Firstly, this paper focus on the new demands of university archives in the new period, including the demands from rapid development of information technology, diversification of user needs, as well as the expansion of universities.Secondly, the paper analyzes the history and present situation of the service work of university archives.
