High-precision measurement of time have played an indispensable role in everyday life, industrial production, construction of high-energy physics experiments, and aerospace and national defense constructions. There are a variety of high-precision time measurement method, The thesis of high-precision time measurement system to measure the needs of laser time-of-flight of the laser pulse ranging system, the use of FPGA internal phase-locked loop module implements a time interpolation time measurement method.The thesis describes the circuit design and simulation of the measurement principle of the entire system and method, and each module of the system, and finally the entire system simulation and test,the test results show that the system of time measurement to nanosecondsmeasurement accuracy. This paper is divided into five chapters,the following is the main content of each chapter.The first chapter illustrates the importance and relevance of the research high-precision time measurement method, from various aspects.And describes the advantages of the FPGA to achieve high-precision time measurement.Then analyzes the status quo and development trend of the development of high-precision time measurement method, Finally, the the wording structure and arrangement of the chapters of the paper is given.The second chapter first introduces the four time measurement of technical indicators,then introduced several major high-precision time measurement method measuring principle as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each measurement method. Since the subject is based on the FPGA to achieve high-precision time measurement, it is the end of this chapter of FPGA technology introduced. Including che origin and development of the FPGA, FPGA design language, design software and design process, as well as major FPGA manufacturers and their products as well as FPGA development software environment.The third chapter is the main chapter of the thesis, detailed introduction of the high-precision time measurement system, including software development environment, the development of language, device selection and measurement principle, also including the module circuit design and simulation. Has introduced the phase-locked loop modules, coarse time measurement modules, fine time measurement modules, data consolidation and conversion module, and data storage module.A combination of the various modules of the system in the fourth chapter, the entire high-precision time measurement system description and simulation verification, and the measurement results were analyzed. The measurement results to illustrate the time measuring system can achieve nanosecond measurement accuracy.The fifth chapter summarizes the thesis work, and prospectsthe next step in the research work.
