Media literacy has always been an important research subject in the domestic and overseas news communication circle. The emergence of a series of new media, such as the Web TV, Blog, Podcasting, Micro blogging, MSN and so on, portends the network times coming into a new period of development. In the network times, the problems of media literacy have become more and more, which have received great attention. Taking the college students in Wuhan as the research objects, the article analyzes the existing problems of media literacy of the college students in Wuhan and puts forward several solutions, using the theories of Communication and Psychology with the methods of questionnaire and literature analysis.This paper is divided into four sections.The first part is mainly introducing the significance of choosing this topic and the innovation of the article, elaborating the related theoretical basis and hypotheses, and then arranging and synthetically commenting the related documents of media literacy in the domestic and overseas.The second part focuses on the present network times, summarizing the characteristics of network times, and those influences on the traditional media and college students..It also explains about the core concept and new media’s formation.The third part simply introduces the research methods and data samples and mainly focuses on describing the college students’contacting and using media, their cognition, comprehension and participation in communication. In addition to those, it also talks about the abilities of making, criticizing and conduct on media of college students. Firstly, in the level of their contacting with media, this part discusses about the times, environment and categories of college students’contacting with media. Secondly, it discusses about the cognition and comprehension according to the purpose, content and developing trend of the college students’contacting. The last is discusses the abilities of making, criticizing and conduct on media of college students, which is mainly talking over from the abilities of resisting the disadvantages, such as violence, intimacy and privacy on the net of college students. the abuse of network resources in academic field and so on.The last part analyzes the situation and problems of the college students in Wuhan through the methods of the quantitative and qualitative analysis, and then puts forwards the solution that improving the media literacy of college students through the measures of the formal and informal education.
