Internet, with its fast development, brings to the public not only much convenience but also various negative effects. A series of social problems associated with Internet, including cyber crime and cyber eroticism, have been appearing continuously. As a new generation of intellectuals, college students are among the most active groups on the Internet. They master comparatively advanced scientific knowledge, advocate freedom and advanced concept, and pursue personality. As the main customers'community of network, although college students have good conscientiousness to some extent, while facing the complex network world, their abilities of self-control and information-distinguish are not mature enough to prevent them from Internet abuses, such as Internet swindles, Internet addiction, and Internet eroticism, which could result in serious harms both physically and mentally. Therefore, it is urgent to carry on the Internet literacy education for the contemporary college students.Based on documentary research, investigation method and comparative method, the research carries on survey to study the Internet literacy of college students in Chongqing, analyzes the phenomena and the reasons of the lack of the Internet literacy, and put forward related strategies for future improvement on the basis of the research results at home and abroad.There are five chapters in this paper. Chapter One is the introduction, which discusses the background, purpose, study method and the content of this research. Chapter Two carries on the explaining to the related theories of this research. Chapter Three analysis the current situation and summarizes the reasons for the lack of Internet literacy of college students. Based on the survey and the actual conditions, Chapter Four put forward related strategies for promotions. Chapter Five carries on the summary and analysis the shortages of this research.According to the previous studies, Internet literacy can be categorized into the following five aspects, the ability of cognizing and handling Internet, the consciousness of unscrambling and judging network information, the consciousness of network safety, the consciousness of network ethics morals, and the ability of network innovation. Aiming at the five aspects above, a survey about Internet literacy of college students in Chongqing is launched in Southwest University, and the collected data is carefully analyzed. The study focuses on the analysis of the relationship between the subjective initiative and Internet literacy of college students. At the foundation of the result of this survey and the combination with foreign experience, considering the present condition of Internet literacy of college students in Chongqing, correlative strategies are proposed for future improvement.
