Every change in the media has changed the society and the human beings living in the society.With the ever-changing media environment,the new media has gone beyond the traditional media,becoming an indispensable part of people's lives.On the one hand,the new media provides information convenience in respect of entertainment,information,education for the audience;on the other hand,mass information is far more than the individual audience needs,and the problem of how to make use of information improves the media literacy requirements of the audience.For college students,the hardware and software facilities of campus network is perfect,leisure time is enough,which provides condition for college students to use the Internet media.With the increasing dependence of college students on new media,and information mixed with different ideologies has an impact on the attitude,ideas and behavior of college students through the Internet media.Therefore,in the information age,in the media society,it is one of the essential qualities for college students to learn to choose the right media,verify information,critically interpret information,and promote self-development through media.Not only is it related to the lifelong learning of individuals,but is also related to the level of media literacy of the entire social citizens,thus having important research significance.This paper mainly uses the research methods of literature research,questionnaires,in-depth interviews as well as comparative study,and conducts concrete research according to the following procedures,combined with media literacy and other theories related to communication.First of all,understand the new media literacy of college students,the status quo of domestic media literacy education,as well as the experience of foreign media literacy education by reading the relevant literature.Then,obtain first-hand informationthrough social surveys and in-depth interviews.Take the students of Zhengzhou University as the object of investigation,understand their understanding,attitude and behavior in terms of new media through the form of paper questionnaires.At the same time,the author also interviews relevant teachers and studentsof Zhengzhou University for further access to information.Thirdly,conduct statistics on thecollected questionnaires,analyze the students' cognition and use of new media,and summarize the characteristics and problems of college students' new media literacy.Finally,based on the relevant experience of media literacy education abroad,the authorputs forward some corresponding suggestions on the problems of collegestudents' new media literacy at home.If possible,the author also hopes this paper can provide a basis for referencefor scholars who will research the media literacy of citizens in the future.The author extends to the “new media literacy” from the "media literacy",and conducts two-dimensional analysisfrom the technical level(ie WeChat,microblog,mobile APP,search engines and other new media),literacy level(media useliteracy,information consumption literacy,informationproductionliteracy,social participation literacy etc.).Combined with data analysis and in-depth interviews,the author finds that,college students have reached a higher level in use of new media both in terms of the scope of the new media and the time spending on them.However,when it comes to online motivation,college students tend to "soft demand"(such as leisure and entertainment,access to information,etc.),rather than "hard demand"(such as learning knowledge,work needs,etc.),surf the Internet unconsciously than utilize the Internet with goals.In addition,the problem of college students in respect of new media literacy are as follows:they are greatly influenced by new media,but lack of cognitive ability;they are heavily dependent on new media,but easy to addicted to them;they use new media with high frequency,but their ability to use lags behind;they are willing to participate in new media,but weak in actionfrom online to offline.The author believes that it is nessessary to joint efforts of "multi-training path" and "self-promotion path" in order to improve the new media literacy of college students.Among them,the latter is the key.Not only should college students learn relevant media knowledge,enhance the individual's awareness and skills of the media,enhance the search,screening,interaction,management ability,they should also consciously use the media for social collaboration,social participation and so on.
