The archival science in China came into being by summarizing the practicalwork in specific environment.It has been more than70years of history.As anindependent discipline, archival science not only manifest its essential value with itsown theory, structure and function in the scientific field,but also promote thedevelopment of society through guiding the practical work in the social field.It is ofvital significance to summarizing the regular patterns consciously in order to improvethe progress of the archival science.Disciplinarity is a combination of knowledge production and professionalstraining of certain discipline. This article attempts to explore the history of archivalscience in China via the view of disciplinarity system which includes the knowledgeproduction level and the discipline system structure level. By tracing its inheritance ofthe past and prospecting its development in the future, the author trying to usestructured approach to clarify the establishment background, theory system andessential significance of archival science——as a social institution,more clearly in bothscience field and society field. Also, the disciplinarity theory system plays a positiverole in inheriting and innovating China’s archival science.This paper includes five parts.The introduction part made clear the researchbackground, significance and research methods on the basis of summarizing therelevant achievements.In the second part,the author analyse the connotation of thedisciplinarity system theory in the first place, and then expound its positivesignificance in studying the history of the archival science in China——For a start,itmakes reasonable explanation of the internal and external factors ininstitutionalization process of archival science.The next, it helps to build thedimensional research mode for China’s archival science development.Finally,itprovide reference for the study of the archival science in the future. In the third part ofthis paper, the author describes the disciplinarity system on the knowledge production level combined with the social backgroud in the establishment and developmentcourse of archival science in China, which reveals its institutionalization process. Inthe fourth part, the author clarifies the discipline system structure of China’s archivalscience from three aspects including professional researchers, academic groups andsocial evaluation and circulation of achievements and authority publications. Finally,by summing up the interaction between the archival science and the society, theauthor gives several suggestions for the promotion of the improvement and prosperityof archival science in China.
