Research On The Relationship Between Archival Science And Related Disciplines In China

As a discipline which combines theory and practice, archival science constantly absorbs the knowledge of other disciplines, and carrys on the evolution of new research areas through internalization in the modern academic environment which has the tendency of integration of cross-curricular interests. Disciplinary intercrossing can enrich the theories and research methods of archival science and then broaden its disciplinary boundaries. Meanwhile, the knowledge of archival science also affects some disciplines and promotes the development of other disciplines. In order to understand the related disciplines and subject association of archival science comprehensively and deeply, this paper will study it from the aspects of knowledge absorption and knowledge diffusion through quantitative analysis principally and qualitative analysis accessorily.This paper mainly uses citation analysis to quantitatively analyse the related disciplines and subject association of archival science. Firstly, the references and citing articles of archival science2002-2011are collected from Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index(CSSCI) database. Classify the references and citing articles by subjects. The concept and formula of subject correlation are also be used in this paper. According to the citation data and the theory of citation network and visualization methods, this paper uses the visualization software Netdraw to draw citing network and cited network which show the affinity between archival science and the related disciplines visually. Combining with the subject and concrete content of archival treatises, references and citing articles, this paper will analyse the key content of knowledge communication between archival science and the related disciplines and then discuss the knowledge absorption and knowledge diffusion in Humanities and Social Science and the knowledge absorption in Engineering and Technology Science, Natural Science, Agriculture Science and Medical Science. Secondly, according to the number of subject correlation, the paper will carry on comprehensive evaluation to related disciplines of archival science. The related disciplines are divided into four levels:significantly related disciplines, highly related disciplines, moderately related disciplines and low related disciplines.Finally, combining with the citation network, content analysis and the comprehensive evaluation to related disciplines, a comprehensive analysis is conducted from three aspects. The three aspects are characteristic of subject association, the classification of related disciplines and the internal and external factors which affects the correlation between archival science and the related disciplines.By studying the knowledge absorption and knowledge diffusion of archival science through the research method of citation analysis, this paper intends to find the disciplines which plays important roles in the development of archival science2002-2011and the characteristic of subject association as to master the discipline nature and development condition of archival science and make active attempt in the development of archival science.
