In the field of communication, Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) as a hot research topichas been widely used in the acquisition and transmission of physical data in the field of forestfire prevention, home security, and mine safety monitoring. As the business typescontinuously enriching and the requirement of information gradually increasing, more andmore applications require wireless networks to provide a greater amount of information sothat the users can get a more intuitive and more in-depth understanding of the observed object.In this context, scholars put forward the concept of Wireless Multimedia Sensor Network(WMSN).At present, researching on wireless multimedia sensor networks are mainly involved inseveral commonly used short-range wireless communication technologies (Bluetooth, WiFi,ZigBee etc). Bluetooth is low in price, and has wide application range, but the communicationdistance is shorter, and network scale is smaller; WiFi has faster transmission rate, goodmobility, but the power consumption is larger; ZigBee has the advantages of low cost, lowpower consumption, low complexity and powerful network topology ability. Considering therestrictions of wireless sensor networks on the cost, power and coverage, this system appliesthe ZigBee technology to build a wireless sensor network, and in cooperation with the GPRS,to realize the smart wireless sensor network system.The ARM is used as a central control module in the system, coordinates image sensormodule and DSP image processing modules for image data acquisition and processing, andcontrols the ZigBee network and the GPRS network to complete the data transmission. Thesystem uses the C/S(client/server) network connection mode, in the embedded Linux platformand monitoring center platform, respectively establish UDP client and server to achieve thesending and receiving of the data segment, and on the server, all received data segment areintegrated to recover the original image information displayed on the monitoring centerinterface.In this paper, for smart wireless sensor networks system, a lot of testing experiment hasbeen finished, and the test results are deeply compared and analysised, this paper summarizedthe effects of the parameters of the wireless network transmission performance. At the same time, in this paper the shortcomings of this system are comprehensively discussed and furtherimproved method are given.
